The Strachan Memorial Prize was established to honour the late Mary Strachan who bequeathed a sum of money to the Raine Medical Research Foundation for the purpose of funding medical research.
The Prize is awarded to a Western Australian early-career clinician or clinical scientist for the most outstanding publication that may translate medical science into better health outcomes.
The Prize consists of a travel allowance up to the value of $5,000 and a medallion.
Thanks to a generous donation from the Rigby family, this year there will be an additional Prize entitled the Rigby Research Prize, providing a travel allowance of $5,000. A separate application is not required. All applicants for the Raine Research Prize and the Strachan Memorial Prize will be considered for this Prize.
The Conditions and procedures governing the Prize are subject to regular review by the Research Committee to ensure that they are relevant and clearly articulate the main principles for selection.
Applicants should refer to the eligibility and career-level guide and the Strachan Memorial Prize Conditions to ensure they meet the eligibility requirements before commencing this application.
Applications for the 2018 Strachan Memorial Prize are now closed. Applications for the 2019 round will open in August 2018.
